In celebration of Black History Month, please join the call tomorrow between Accra, Ghana and Akron, Ohio to see how their teams are focused on economic development along with other things but most of all building rich, long-term partnerships. Celebrate Black History Month with Global Ties Akron!

For the past five years, the cities of Akron, Ohio, and Accra, Ghana have collaborated under the umbrella of the Akron-Accra Partnership Board to develop several successful exchanges on both sides of the Atlantic.

Join us Friday, Feb. 26 from 11:30am–1pm, for this free, interactive event. Get an insider’s view on the past, present, and future projects of the Partnership and expand your worldview. Educators and parents are especially encouraged to attend along with their students.

FROM AKRON TO ACCRA AGENDA:

  • Take a fun, virtual tour of Akron, Ohio, and Accra, Ghana
  • Meet members of the Accra-Akron Partnership Board, including:
    former Mayor of Akron Jeff Fusco, Akron’s Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Samuel DeShazior, Global Ties Akron Executive Director Michelle Wilson, and Ghana’s Abdulsalam Mohammed
  • Learn about the genesis of the partnership, past projects, and future plans
  • Participate in a lively discussion and question and answer sessions with panelists
